Students in the Tri-M Honor Society.

Twenty-two Queensbury High School students were inducted into the QHS Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter on Thursday, April 23.

Tri-M, which stands for Modern Music Masters, is the only national honor society for student-musicians. The society recognizes students who have gone above and beyond both academically and musically.

Tri-M members play an essential part of the school’s music community supporting concerts and stage crew, mentoring younger students and assisting with large events such as NYSSMA solo festivals, All-County and Area All-State festivals. Their largest service project is helping to run the school’s NYSSMA solo festival, which serves thousands of students from the region annually.

“Watching students contribute and give back to our community through music has been a highlight of the organization,” said Gregory Verheyn, K-12 Music Department chairperson. “It has been rewarding to see students’ passion and commitment to music grow into leadership, service and a desire to make a positive impact on others through these experiences.”
