Students stand with trophies from WHBI Spelling Bee.

The gymnasium erupted in cheers on Friday, May 15 when Queensbury fourth grader Gabriel Rivera won the annual William H. Barton Intermediate School Spelling Bee.

Gabriel clinched his win by correctly spelling the word “license.” He was one of 19 fourth- and fifth-grade students to compete in the annual event.

Three students earned runner-up honors: Delaney Lovett, Lucas Hummel and Sidonia Sheerer. 

Other students who competed in the Spelling Bee include: Charlie Wright, Coen Taliaferro, Lincoln Perry, Amelia Conine, Nora Kinderman, Allison Cross, RJ Grubbs, Celia Cimo, Nina Fuller, Gunnar Beard, Ady Hunsinger, Aubrey Fisher, Ethan Hicks, Maxwell Lynch and Abraham Valencia.
