When students return to campus in September, they will see a new face in uniform.
Retired Albany police detective Megan Craft will take on the role of school resource officer, replacing Rob Sannasardo, who left the district during the 2025-26 school year. Craft will be joining George Carpenter as the second SRO on campus.
“I’m excited to join the Queensbury Union Free School District as a school resource officer,” Craft said. “I look forward to working alongside educators and families to build trust and create positive relationships that support students and help shape their futures.”
Craft has worked as a public information officer for the Albany Police Department since September 2023. Before that she was a Children and Family Service Unit detective for 10 years and served as a midnight patrol officer from 2007-2013.
In this new role, Craft will continue to build positive relationships with district staff, students and parents as she patrols school campus and responds to any emergency situations.
She will be a liaison between the school and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. She will also be a liaison for the school safety committee and part of the incident command structure, assisting with fire drills and lockdowns and walking the buildings. Her job will be to prevent or minimize dangerous situations.
Craft will start the first week of school.
“The safety of our students and staff is our most important priority at Queensbury,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “We are excited to bring Officer Craft onto our team to ensure we continue to give our students a safe place to learn.”
