QHS seniors help commemorate 9/11 at 25th anniversary event
Queensbury High School seniors Addison Boecher, Isabella Nieves, Jaden Telesco and Kian Capone spoke at a special program hosted by the American Legion commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Sept. 16 at The Queensbury Hotel.
The event brought together students and community members to remember those who lost their lives and reflect on the lasting impact of 9/11.
“For high school students, Sept. 11 is history rather than a personal memory,” said Kerry Rodriguez, QHS social studies department chairperson. “Events like this give students the opportunity to move beyond textbooks and help preserve the stories of those who experienced that day.
“As more time passes, sharing these stories with younger generations becomes increasingly important,” she continued. “Their involvement demonstrates the important role young people have in preserving history and honoring the past. Twenty-five years later, remembering 9/11 remains an opportunity to reflect on courage, service, sacrifice, and the importance of coming together as a community.”
