Avie Chico waited in line, ran hand through her long hair and looked down at her lavender colored shirt.
“My mom picked me out two choices, and I think that the other one was a little bit too big, and my favorite color is also purple, so I liked this one,” the fourth grader said just before she got her school photo taken at the William H. Barton Intermediate School.
Every fall, students await their turn in front of the camera. Clothes are chosen. Hair is combed. Smiles are practiced. Some students, like Avie, approach school picture day with excitement, while others dread posing for a photo in the middle of the gym.
Avie said she really needs something funny to happen to capture her perfect grin.
Clare Russell sported a light pink jean jacket over her flowered dress for picture day. She’s a fan of the denim jacket look.
“I have a pink one, I have a soft pink one and I have this one,” she said. “I’m probably going to get another one, though. They’re, like, really comfortable.”
Chase Cunningham said he was going for a “moosey messy” look when he did his hair for his school photo. He wore his football jersey, too. He didn’t have a game that day. He just likes that shirt.
Chase does not, however, like smiling for the camera.
“I don’t smile unless the Eagles win the Super Bowl or the Sixers win the championship,” he said.
